Or; on a base undy azure and argent, a three masted ship in full sail proper, with a figure headof a lion rampant gules, flying from the dexter and sinister mast a streamer gules, and from the sinister mast and the jack staff the banner of Scotland (azure, a saltire argent), in chief, a hurt charged with a covered cup or, between two mullets of six points sable pierced

The arms and the motto are a ‘re-grant’ of the pre 1996 Inverclyde District Council’s, and so refer back to the pre 1975 burgh arms of Gourock, Greenock and Port Glasgow
