Matriculated in 2016 by Alex Maxwell Findlater, then Chairman of the Heraldry Society of Scotland, from the original grant of 1863 to his namesake, Alexander Findlater, wine merchant of Dublin by the then Ulster King of Arms, Sir Bernard Burke. The grant extended to the descendants of the grantee’s father, John Findlater, Officer of Excise at Greenock. Alex descends from a younger brother of the grantee and has matriculated the arms in Scotland for the first time with the differences, the bordure, and the saltire on the breast of the eagle, for Maxwell.

Exemplification by Anthony Maxwell, heraldic illustrator.
