The arms were granted in memory of my late father David Jamieson Kirkhope. They are the first granted to a Kirkhope in Scotland. The colours white and blue are the colours of Scotland while the Bend Or with three pellets is a reference to the arms of Cornwall from whence my mother came. The lymphad is a refence to my father’s service in the Royal Navy while the steps are a reference to out home in Sanquhar.
