Our member, Avril Brown of Australia provides the following interesting note:

In 1929 Lt. Colonel MBH Ritchie D.S.O, O.B.E (then Major Ritchie) received the attached Grant of Arms, later matriculated in the name of my uncle, Armand Robert Graeme Ritchie of Craigdhu-Torovie in 1970.

Sadly, Col. Ritchie died childless. However, he had two older brothers, all sons of the Reverend Robert Ritchie of St Marys Episcopal Church, Inverurie

•Lt. Colonel Theodore Francis Ritchie D.S.O (1877-1957) had a daughter Eleanor Bartlett (nee Ritchie) who died childless.
•Professor Robert Lindsay Graeme Ritchie (1880-1954), my grandfather, had two children, a son Armand Robert Graeme Ritchie (1914-1978) who died childless, and a daughter Yvonne Woodcock (nee Ritchie, 1922-1998), my mother.

I was approached recently by someone writing a history of Colonel Ritchie’s castle in the western highlands, who advised that his original grant of arms and death certificate was up for sale on the internet at the Toronto Antiquarian Book Fair!! So, with some provenance, and after a 44 year around the world trip from the Italian Riviera, via the UK and Montreal Canada, the original Grant of Arms lost to our family for so many years, has just today made its way back to us in Australia – there is something very Scottish (i.e. canny) about this!
