Frater Frederick John Patrick Crichton-Stuart

Arms: Quarterly first and fourth Or a fess chequy Azure & Argent within a double tressure flory & counter flory Gules (for Stuart of Bute), second Argent a lion rampant Azure armed & langued Gules (for Crichton), third Azure three water bougets Or (for the Lordship & Barony of Sanquhar) all within a bordure Tenne for difference.

Lyon Register: Volume 35, Folio 80.

The arms are on a Maltese Cross argent (denoting a Knight of Justice in the Order of Malta) and the Maltese Cross is interlaced with a Rosary (denoting Solemn or Perpetual Vows as a Knight of Justice). Professed Knights of Malta do not use a crest or motto.

The arms were matriculated by Captain Rhidian Crichton-Stuart RA., father of the armiger, in 1946. Tenne makes one of its very rare appearances in the Lyon Register.
