Per fess argent and gules; a fess dancetty,bendy or and vert, between, in chief, a rose gules, barbed and seeded vert, and, in base, a water wheel argent

coronet - area council

crest - a roundel per bend gules and sable, charged with a bear’s head couped, argent, muzzled azure compartment - composed of earth and coal

supporters - dexter, a Roman soldier proper, the exterior hand holding a shield gules, charged with three stars in chief, argent, and, sinister, a miner supporting with the exterior hand a pick axe, head downwards, all proper

motto - inscribed on the compartment, Cum Air Adhart Comhla

Public Register - 79/74; 17 February 1997

The bearings are new to Scots civic heraldry, but make references to the arms of the two pre 1996 district councils, Bearsden and Milngavie and Strathkelvin, and so contain references to the arms of the pre 1975 burghs now in East Dunbartonshire, Kirkintilloch, Milngavie, Bishopbriggs and Bearsden
