Per pale or and azure: a fess chequy per pale, dexter azure and argent, sinister argent and gules, surmounted of a shakefork sable, all between , in chief, a bonnet azure, with a round tassel gules, and an annulet or, stoned gules and, in base, another similar bonnet and a mullet argent
coronet - community council
motto- Knit weel
(Public Register *)
The arms are a ‘regrant’ of the arms of the old burgh, done away with like all burghs in 1975, together with the the burgh’s motto
Note - emblazonments often show the shakefork surmounting the bonnet in chief and the stoned annulet, but the blazon quite clearly says ‘all between’ the bonnets, stoned annulet and star
