Dickson of Ednam, James
James Dickson of Broughton, Ednam and Sydenham MP (c1712x1715-1771). A native of Stitchell, he was merchant in Havana and London and MP for the Linlithgow Burghs from 1768 till his death. In Roxburghshire, he bought Ednam in 1761 and Sydenham at an unknown date. In Peebleshire he bought Broughton in 1764 (eventually owning almost the entire parish of Broughton). His house (originally Havannah House) is now the Ednam House Hotel.
